The Leaders in Training program is offered at all CA, NY, TX & WA locations.
What is Leaders in Training (LIT)?
Leaders in Training is a hands-on leadership experience for pre-teens and teens entering 7th through 11th grade in the fall of 2024. This is perfect for graduates of Destination Science camp, student body officers, or any students interested in gaining real-world leadership experience. LITs will learn job related skills while learning hands-on science! LITs may serve 2 or more weeks at camp. LITs will arrive promptly at 8:30am Monday – Friday and will be with us until camp ends at 3:00pm. If you are not able to make a full day or full week commitment, please request an alternate week.
7 Key Expectations of Every LIT:
- Do the right thing: Be responsible for your own actions, don’t blame others.
- Be a role model for campers: You are not a camper at DS, kids look up to you.
- Be kind & polite: Show respect for campers, parents, teachers, and other LITs.
- Work hard: Give 100% at all times.
- Be helpful: Ask, “How may I help you?” when unsure of your next role or task.
- Join in: Be a participant, not a spectator in camp activities.
- Be Safe: Play so the campers can win, never be competitive.
- LITs will arrive promptly at 8:30am on Monday – Friday.
- LITs will stay until at least 3:00pm each day.
- If you are not able to make a full day and week commitment, request an alternate week.
- LIT program fees are $120/week for the 1st & 2nd week, additional week’s fees are waived.
- LITs will participate in a minimum of two weeks at your assigned location
