What is Leaders in Training (LIT)?
Leaders in Training (LIT) is an exciting, hands-on leadership program for students entering 7th–11th grade in Fall 2026. Whether you’re a Destination Science graduate or a student ready to step into a leadership role, our LIT program gives you real-world experience while staying connected to the fun and innovation of hands-on science.
Why Be an LIT?
Build Real Leadership Skills
Learn how to guide younger campers, communicate clearly, problem-solve, and lead by example — skills that transfer to school, sports, and future careers.
Develop Strong Character
Practice responsibility, kindness, perseverance, and integrity every single day. As an LIT, you don’t just learn leadership — you live it.
Gain Real-World Experience
Work alongside experienced camp leaders in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You’ll learn how to support teams, manage challenges, and take initiative.
Serve in a Nonprofit STEM Organization
Be part of a mission-driven organization that inspires the next generation of scientists and engineers. Your experience reflects meaningful service in education and STEM.
Strengthen Your Resume & Applications
LIT experience builds leadership, service, responsibility, and commitment — qualities that shine on high school applications, college applications, scholarships, and job resumes. Why not gain community service hours while having fun and making a difference?

You’re not just attending camp — you’re helping create it. Younger campers look up to you.
